The 2015 Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act gave the U.S. Marshals Service enhanced authority to assist state, local, tribal and other federal law enforcement agencies with missing child cases. The USMS missing child mission primarily focuses on missing juveniles who are at a high risk for victimization or other harm. Specifically, those children that are missing from care, have a high potential for victimization due to human trafficking, physical abuse, or sexual abuse, or risk of harm due to mental health or medical concerns. This presentation will focus on how to request USMS assistance, an overview of resources the USMS can provide, and examples of cases that have resulted in successful recoveries.
