The road from disclosure to the criminal case being finalized is a long journey, and children may feel lost or fearful of the new and scary situation that trauma and disclosure creates. Leaning into the support of partner agencies and organizations can ease that experience for the client/family. When those agencies communicate and coordinate within the therapy process, both the client and family will benefit. This presentation will discuss one such organization and its impact as a DCAC agency partner. Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA)’s purpose is to help decrease the fear a client may have associated with their abuse/trauma and help them feel safe again. The presenters will discuss the creation and purpose of BACA, how they partner with other agencies to receive referrals, and how to determine if a family qualifies for BACA services. You will learn how a client becomes a “BACA child,” and the impact BACA has on the client’s post-disclosure journey. For our families, we truly believe it takes a village to create a safe and supportive environment throughout their healing journey.
