This workshop will explore component-based interventions for treating victims of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). Research and literature about the dynamics of CSA will be reviewed. The use of trauma-informed interventions founded on evidence-based treatments will be discussed. This will include core components of evidence-based treatments defined by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) and the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) protocol elements. An emphasis will be placed on providing interventions across modalities including individual, family, dyadic, and group therapy. Lecture, group discussion, and case examples will provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience. This workshop combines research, best practices, and clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
After the workshop, participants will be able to identify common dynamics of childhood sexual abuse as defined in the peer-reviewed research and literature
After the workshop, participants will be able to identify core components of trauma treatment as defined by NCTSN and the TF-CBT protocol
After the workshop, participants will able to describe a minimum of 10 trauma-informed interventions for use in individual, family, dyadic, and group therapy
